REGISTRATION OF PUPILS FOR THE 2026 SEAG ENTRANCE ASSESSMENT ENDING VERY SOON

The 2026 SEAG Entrance Assessment is for pupils in their final primary school year:

who will transfer to a post-primary school in N. Ireland in Sept. 2027 AND

have been registered to sit the Assessment, by their parent / guardian.

• All 63 academically selective post-primary schools in N. Ireland use the SEAG Entrance Assessment outcomes (results) within their year 8 Admissions Criteria.

• If as a parent / guardian, you are considering applying, around February 2027, for a year 8 place in one or more of these schools and you want them to sit the Entrance Assessment in November 2026 you MUST register them with SEAG.

Registration is straightforward. You click the "Register Now" button at the top right of the SEAG website front page and work through the various steps.

• You can pause your Pupil Application, and return later to complete and submit it

BUT

• The registration period deadline for submitting a Pupil Application is 11:59pm on Friday 18th September 2026 - the Portal will then close.

AND

• If a pupil has not been Registered to sit the Entrance Assessment they they cannot sit the Entrance Assessment.

Please note:

It is the responsibility of parents / guardians (not the primary school) to register their children to sit the Entrance Assessment by the 11:59pm , Friday 18th September deadline.

• The Registration Period began on 18th May 2026 - it will close at 11:59 pm on 18th September. Pupils Applications need to be completed AND submitted by then.
• 11,300 pupils have already been registered. Parents choose where they want their children to sit the Assessment, from a list of available Assessment Centres. Some of our Centres are already full but, around 44 still have good availability. (That number may go down).
• It takes time to complete the Pupil Application so it is important to start now, rather than to leave it too late.
• Starting but not completing and not submitting a Pupil Application means that the pupil has NOT been registered with SEAG.
