Access Arrangements

Access Arrangements are ‘Reasonable Adjustments’ made for the SEAG Entrance Assessment for children with identified specific, significant/substantive needs.

  • Applications for Access Arrangements must be submitted by the published deadline.
  • The application must include verified supporting evidence as outlined in the SEAG Access Arrangements Policy, Procedures and Guidance document.
  • Access Arrangements cannot be put in place solely for the Entrance Assessment. They must reflect the Normal Way of Working in the classroom.

Who May Apply?

Access Arrangements may be appropriate where a pupil has a specific significant, or substantive, need in one or more of the following areas:

Cognition and learning

Communication and interaction

Sensory

Physical

Social, emotional and mental health

Medical

What Types of Arrangements Are Available?

Depending on the significant or substantive need, Access Arrangements may include:
  • Extra Time (up to 25%)
  • Medical Adjustments
  • Smaller Group Invigilation
  • Other reasonable adjustments
  • Enlarged Papers

All applications are carefully considered on an individual basis and must be supported by appropriate professional evidence.

Appeals

Parents/Guardians may appeal an Access Arrangements decision if they believe the Independent Access Panel did not:
  • Apply the SEAG published Policy and Guidelines relating to applications for Access Arrangements;
  • Consider the application;
  • Take into account the supporting evidence submitted;
  • Treat the application with fairness and consistency with other applications.

Please Note
The appeals process cannot be used for the following:
  • to challenge the SEAG Access Arrangements Policy, Procedures and Guidelines.
  • to submit new evidence not attached to the application.
  • to submit applications which did not meet the published deadline.
  • to address third party unsubstantiated claims.

Emergency Access Arrangements

Emergency Access Arrangements are available for pupils who experience temporary injuries or impairments occurring close to the assessment date.

Emergency Access Arrangements may be granted for situations which occur shortly before or during the Assessment period.

These applications are considered under the Emergency Access Procedures.
